BAJAUR: Senior officials of the district administration, security forces and the police on Monday sought the people’s support for establishing durable peace and ensuring socioeconomic development of the Bajaur district.

Commandant Bajaur Scouts Brig Saad Mehmood, deputy commissioner Shahid Ali Khan and district police officer Waqas Rafique made these remarks while addressing a jirga of the elders of Tharkani and Utman Khail tribes, according to a statement issued from the deputy commissioner’s office.

The officials said that establishment of a peaceful environment and provision of basic facilities to residents was their upmost priority.

The jirga was also briefed on the ongoing peace efforts and the actions against terrorists, drug dealers and suppliers.

The officials described the support of people crucial to make the peace efforts successful.

Elders, including Malik Shaheen Khan, Malik Bahadar Shah, Maulana Gul Dad Khan and Malik Gul Kareem Khan, addressed the jirga and expressed their satisfaction over the efforts to improve law and order and wellbeing of residents.
