RAWALPINDI: More than 50 Tractors were delivered to the successful farmers of Talagang through balloting under Chief Minister Punjab’s Green Tractors Programme.
Punjab Parliamentary Secretary for Excise and Taxation and MPAs Malik Shehryar Awan and Malik Falak Sher Awan distributed the registration papers of the tractors among the farmers at ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, Parliamentary Secretary Excise and Taxation Punjab and MPA Malik Shehryar Awan said that Green Tractors Programme is an important step for the development of agriculture by the Punjab Chief Minister.
A huge amount of Rs30 billion has been allocated for this programme and a subsidy of Rs1 million has been given per tractor. Earlier, farmers were not given such a huge subsidy on supply of tractors. He said balloting for tractors has been done transparently.
He said that the current government stood for the prosperity of farmers. It is taking practical steps and Kisan Card is a step in this direction. Small farmers have been benefited from Kisan Card.
MPA Malik Falk Sher Awan said that agricultural mechanisation will be promoted in the province through this green tractors programme.
He said that according to the instructions of the Punjab government, all the steps from draw to the supply of green tractorsare being carried out in a mechanised manner.
He said the Punjab government had made plans for the development of agriculture in a very short period of time, which are being implemented rapidly. Director Agriculture (extension) of Punjab Agriculture Department, Rawalpindi Division Syed Shahid Iftikhar Bukhari said that 57 green tractors were delivered in Talagang.
