NAWABSHAH: Two shopkeepers were booked at the Punhal Khan Chandio police station of Shaheed Benazirabad district for allegedly selling poisonous liquor, which claimed four lives over the last couple of days.

Two other men fell unconscious after consuming the liquor and were fighting for life till late Tuesday.

Preliminary inquiry by the local police suggested that the deceased, Intezar Khoso, 50, Mor Khoso, 28, Mushtaq Jokhio, 45, and Abdul Salam Chandio, 27, as well as the other two persons, Imran and Yousuf, had bought the liquor from the wine shop run by Dilbar Khoso and Inayat Khoso. The victims were residents of different villages situated near Sakrand town.

The shopkeepers were booked but they were yet to be arrested.

Acting upon the findings of the preliminary inquiry, SSP Tanveer Hussain Tunio constituted a two-member committee to further investigate the matter and sought a report within two days.
