KARACHI: The cold wave gripping the province turned intense early Wednesday morning with minimum temperature dropping to a single digit in Karachi at the airport and its surrounding areas, data provided by the Met department showed.

The minimum temperature recorded at Jinnah Terminal was 9.1 degrees Celsius, followed by 10°C in Gulistan-i-Jauhar, 12.2°C in Bin Qasim and 12.5°C in Mauripur.

The average temperature of the city was 11.3°C. Humidity dropped to 22 per cent in the evening.

The Met Office recorded Sindh’s lowest temperature in Mithi and Mohenjodaro, where the mercury dropped to 2.5°C and 4°C, respectively.

“Dry and relatively cool weather is likely to prevail in Karachi with minimum temperature ranging between 10-13°C over the next two days,” the department’s advisory says.

The temperature is expected to drop to 6-8°C in upper Sindh, 7-9°C in its central areas and 10-12°C in southern areas of the province, the advisory adds.
