MOHMAND: A fire broke out in Shati Kor forests, Halimzai tehsil, here on Thursday night.

Residents said the fire broke out at around 9pm for unknown reasons which engulfed the entire mountainous area. No firefighters had responded to control the blaze as the fire was seen spreading to other places reducing the precious trees and bushes to ashes.

When contacted, Rescue 1122 spokesman said they had requested the police for providing security at night time, which they refused due to which fire fighting operation could not be started at night time. However, local said the fire was later extinguished in the morning on Friday.
