SUKKUR: Shikarpur police claimed it had gunned down a notorious dacoit in a shootout with gangsters near Dos-Wah (water channel) late on Thursday night but his associates managed to take away his dead body as they fled into thick riverine jungle.

Shikarpur SSP Shahzeb Chachar said in a handout issued on Friday that Sultankot police’s SHO, Nabi Bakhsh Dahani, along with his team engaged the bandits’ gang near the channel and succeeded in killing the dacoit, Dilshad Suhriyani.

He said the fleeing dacoits, Asghar Marfani, Nawaz alias Adharr Marfani, Bashir Marfani and Shahmor Marfani, managed to take away the body of their associate after the shootout.
