LARKANA: The Model Criminal Trial Court of Qambar on Friday handed down life term to an accused and imposed on him fine of Rs2 million to be paid as compensation to heirs of a man he was found guilty of killing in 2015.

Additional Sessions Judge Tariq Bhatti, who presided over the model court, said in the verdict that in case the convict, Rabil aka Sikandar Hayat Buriro, failed to pay the compensation to the heirs of the victim, Shahban Buledi, he would have to undergo an additional three years in jail.

The court acquitted the co-accused Shabir Ahmed Buriro, Liaqaut Ali Buriro and Faiz Mohammad aka Faizal Buriro, who were also nominated in the FIR (No.143/2015) lodged under Sections 302, 114, 337-H(II), 148, 149 PPC, as charges were not proved against them.

Another co-accused, Mohammad Urs Buriro, named in the FIR had been absconding since the FIR was lodged by Basheer Ahmed Buledi, brother of the deceased, at Qambar police station on June 27, 2015.

The convict Rabil aka Sikandar Hayat Buriro who was currently lodged in Sukkur central prison was informed about the sentence through video link. Evidence of three eyewitnesses was also recorded through video link from Saudi Arabia.

The case against the absconding accused would be kept in dormant files till his arrest, said the order.
