QUETTA: Five members of a family were injured in a gas explosion in a house in Killi Deba area of the provincial capital on Friday.

According to police, the family kept the heater on at night, but gas stopped due to loadshedding. As supply resumed in the morning, gas started accumulating in the house. As family members burnt a matchstick in the morning to turn on the heater, a huge explosion took place.

A big portion of the house was destroyed due to the blast.

The injured include three sisters who suffered serious burn injuries. Police and rescue workers shifted victims to the Quetta Civil Hospital.

The three sisters were identified as Zebun Nisa, Bakhtun Nisa, and Zainabun Nisa.

The two other family members suffered minor injuries while two children remained safe.
