MUZAFFARGARH: Four people were killed and 13 others seriously injured when a passenger van collided with a tractor-trolley loaded with sugarcane and later crashed into a shop in Sanawan, Kot Addu district, on Saturday morning.

According to reports, the van was en route from Kot Addu to Multan when it hit the tractor-trolley near Sanawan. The collision caused the van to overturn and crash into a nearby shop. The impact of the accident led to the death of four passengers on the spot, while 13 others sustained severe injuries, with five reported to be in critical condition.

Rescue teams promptly arrived at the scene and provided first aid to the injured before transporting them to hospitals in Kot Addu and Sanawan. Some critically injured passengers were later shifted to Nishtar Hospital in Multan for advanced treatment.

The deceased were identified and their bodies handed over to their families.

Local residents said the accident occurred due to high speed of the van, adding that the passenger van was overcrowded and travelling recklessly. Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
