SWAT: Federal Minister for States and Frontier Regions, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir Affairs Eng Amir Muqam on Saturday said that providing relief to people was the topmost priority of the federal government.

Addressing a gathering after inaugurating an office of National Database and Registration Authority in Khwazakkela tehsil here, he said that people of upper Swat would get computerised national identity cards and other services at their doorstep.

He said that the Nadra office would be converted into mega centre equipped with all facilities to facilitate people.

Mr Muqam claimed that politics of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and PML-N president Nawaz Sharif revolved around people’s welfare and prosperity of Pakistan.

He claimed that the PML-N government had completed record uplift projects of electricity, gas, roads, schools and colleges in Swat despite lack of political mandate since 2013.

He said that state-of-the art Nawaz Sharif Kidney Hospital in Mingora was constructed by his party’s government, providing quality healthcare services to patients.

“Due to prudent economic and financial policies of the present government, inflation has been controlled to single digit, and stock exchange has witnessed record upward growth,” he said.

On the other hand, he said the PTI government despite its third term in the office in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had failed to deliver.

Without naming Murad Saeed, he said that a former federal minister of communications had failed to construct a single road in Swat.

Mr Muqam said problems of people had increased in KP due to ‘negative’ politicking of PTI leaders. “PTI lacks plans to combat terrorism and improve the province’s economy. Instead of focusing on Kurram security situation, the chief minister concentrates on staging protests,” he said.

The federal minister claimed the PTI had damaged the national economy and tried to pitch institutions against each other. “PTI has started losing people’s support in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as is evident from the Nov 26 ‘flopped’ show due to its politics of agitation. There will hardly be any political worker left to get PTI ticket in future elections.”

The PML-N stalwart said a strong democratic government was the only solution to address the existing challenges and people’s problems.

Mr Muqam said the process of development would continue in the country. He said he always stood with people of Khyber Pakthunkhwa whether it was earthquakes, floods or war against terrorism, and would never leave them alone.

The federal minister said that people of Swat had rendered great sacrifices for peace in the country.

Earlier, he heard issues of people, and directed Nadra staff to resolve them.
