Attack on police van leaves two cops injured in Lakki

LAKKI MARWAT: Two policemen were injured when militants attacked a patrol party on Lakki-Darra Tang Road here on Saturday.

A police official said that the attack took place near the Wanda Painda Khan area in the limits of Saddar police station.

“Unknown assailants opened fire on a police van when it was on way to Lakki city,” he said.

He said that the attack left two cops, identified as head constables Sohail Khan and Wakeel Khan, injured, while the assailants escaped.

The official said that the injured were shifted to Government City Hospital, where doctors pronounced their condition was stable.

“After the attack, a large contingent of police reached the venue and launched a search for the assailants,” he added.

Separately, two people were injured in a head-on collision between a car and dumper truck near Tajazai on Saturday.

A rescue official said that the accident occurred on the Peshawar-Karachi Highway.

He identified the injured as Mohammad Aleem and Mohammad Jamshed, residents of Adamzai area. The injured were taken to the District Headquarters Hospital.
