ISLAMABAD: After removing illegal information boards from medians and greenbelts in F-8 Markaz, the municipal administration on Sunday decided to conduct a mega operation across the city to remove such boards.

CDA’s assistant director Liaqat Hayat told Dawn that illegal boards from F-8 Markaz had been removed.

“Today, on the direction of director DMA, our team conducted an operation in F-8 Markaz,” he said, adding that in the coming days, a mega operation will be conducted to remove such boards from other areas of the city.

“We regularly remove such boards, however, now we have decided to conduct a dedicated operation to remove all illegal boards across the city,” Mr Hayat said.

Recently, in F-8 Markaz, several private boards on median and greenbelts were installed by a hotel owner and health centre, raising a question mark on the efficiency of departments concerned. Interestingly, all these boards also carried licence numbers issued by the DMA.

Signboards with names of roads and streets can be installed on medians and greenbelts only by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to help citizens.
