Civilian killed, two cops injured in Shangla checkpost attack

SHANGLA: A civilian was killed and two policemen were injured in a gun attack on a checkpost in Muslim Kandaw area of Puran tehsil here on Saturday night.

The Puran police said the area bordered the Buner district.

They said the injured policemen were shifted to Pir Mohammad Khan Shaheeed Hospital, Aloch Puran.

Local residents said that body of Bakhti Rawan, who was stated to be a source of police and resident of Muslim Kandaw area, was found in nearby fields on Sunday evening.

They said his body was handed over to family after autopsy at the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Puran.

The police said one of the injured cops was later shifted to Saidu Teaching Hospital in Swat. It was the second attack on this checkpost during the last four months.

District police officer Imran Khan also visited the area.

A search operation was launched to trace the attackers.
