THE ruling party in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) recently skipped the multiparty conference that was arranged by the provincial governor. The meeting was organised for the wellbeing of Kurram’s people at a critical time when the law and order situation in the region has gone worse. The decision to boycott the meeting was based on political grounds.
We must keep in mind the dire situation in Kurram, where sectarian clashes have taken precious lives and caused many an injury.
The day-to-day life stands disrupted, affecting everyone. Was it not time for the KP government to set aside political differences, and come together for the sake of Kurram and its people? The decision to prioritise party politics over the welfare of the people of the province has exposed the agenda of the party in question.
It is time all the relevant stakeholders across the country addressed the root cause of clashes in Kurram. The sooner the conflict is resolved, the better it will be.
