DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has said that tangible steps are being taken for uplift of Dera Ismail Khan.

He expressed these views during meetings with various delegations at Gundi Model Farm here on Tuesday during the second day of his visit to his home district.

Mr Kundi said in response to the local residents’ complaints about low gas pressure, five new TBS (Town Border Stations) were being installed to improve gas pressure.

Similarly, he said that SNGPL authorities had assured him that gas loadshedding would be kept to a minimum during the winter season.

The governor said that installation of gas pipelines in two new adjacent areas of the city was ongoing and people of these areas would have the gas supply soon.

Referring to mega project of Chashma Lift Canal, Mr Kundi said that work on the project would soon begin, which would not only bring a green revolution in Dera Ismail Khan but also across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, enabling the region to meet the country’s food requirements.

“Tendering process for the four-lane road project between Dera Ismail Khan and Dera Ghazi Khan via Ramak has also been completed, and work would begin soon,” he said. He added the project included the construction of bypasses, which would significantly improve the economic conditions of the local population.

The governor also highlighted modernisation of the regional passport office and establishment of passport counters at Nadra offices in Prova and Paharpur tehsils to facilitate residents.

The governor said that efforts were being made to resolve issues of the employees of the federal departments.
