RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Director General Kinza Murtaza on Thursday officially launched the longest Soan Bridge girder. The launch event was attended by key officials from RDA, and other stakeholders involved in the ambitious Ring Road project.

The Soan Bridge is a crucial component in completing this vital infrastructure project. “The completion of this bridge is an important step forward in the Ring Road Rawalpindi Project,” said RDA Director General Kinza Murtaza.

“Once finished, the Ring Road will not only alleviate traffic congestion in Rawalpindi but will also provide a safer, more efficient route for travelers across the region,” he said. She issued clear instructions for the timely and efficient completion of the work.

She emphasized that the project must meet all deadlines set in the timeline.

“However, there will be no compromise on the quality and standard of the work. We are committed to ensuring that the flyovers are built to the highest standards for the safety and convenience of the public.” She added.

She said that the Ring Road Rawalpindi project, a flagship initiative by RDA, is set to enhance the city’s transportation network by connecting various major roads, highways, and industrial areas. “The project will provide an alternative route to the already congested city center, helping reduce travel times and improve traffic flow,” she said.

She said that RDA is working in collaboration to ensure the project progresses smoothly and that safety protocols are strictly

followed during the construction phase.

“With the completion of the Soan Bridge girder, the project is on track for completion in the coming months, significantly benefiting Rawalpindi’s infrastructure and contributing to regional economic development,” she said.

Metro Bus Inspection

Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Director General Kinza Murtaza visited the Pakistan Metro Bus System (PMBS) Corridor to assess the ongoing repair / maintenance work of the metro project.

This visit is part of the RDA’s continuous efforts to ensure the smooth operation and upkeep of the Metro Bus service, which serves as a vital transportation link for thousands of commuters in the Rawalpindi-Islamabad region.

She was briefed by officials of Engineering Directorate RDA team regarding the current status of the maintenance work.

This includes the inspection of bus stations, track infrastructure, signaling systems, and the overall system integrity, aimed at ensuring the metro services remain punctual, safe, and reliable.

She said that she was pleased with the progress of the ongoing maintenance work. It is vital to ensure that the Metro Bus System operates smoothly for the benefit of the public,” said Kinza Murtaza.

“We remain committed to maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety to ensure uninterrupted services.

The PMBS has significantly contributed to the region’s public transport system, providing an affordable and efficient commuting option for citizens.

The maintenance work is crucial to RDA’s long-term vision of improving and enhancing the operational efficiency and sustainability of the metro project,” she said.
