NAROWAL: The deputy commissioner has sought a report from the local administration about alleged surfacing of a large quantity of dead fish in the river Ravi.
DC Syed Hasan Raza has ordered the assistant commissioner concerned to probe into the social media reports about the presence of a large quantity of dead fish in the river.
The dead fish were reportedly floating in the river a few kilometers away from Narowal city, near Chandianwala village.
Two residents of Chandianwala, Afzal and Amanat Ali, suspected that someone has thrown poison in the river, causing large-scale death of fish.
A local, Riaz alias Baba, alleges that some shopkeepers are selling the poisoned fish in the market, which could be harmful for the consumers.
However, the DC said that a probe has been ordered into the social media reports about the dead fish in the rive Ravi.
