Wonder Craft: Mini Christmas tree

Christmas is around the corner, and it’s that time of year when festivity fills the air. Most Christian households are adorned with Christmas-related decorations, as the Christmas tree is an integral part of the celebration, something without which the day feels incomplete.

So, for those youngsters who want to create a cute little Christmas tree for your room or to give as a present, here’s one you can easily make at home with little to no extra materials needed.

However, keep in mind that neatness in cutting out the tree is a must, so you’ll need the help of an elder for that.

Materials you need:

  1. Green glitter paper

  2. Cardboard (A4 size)

  3. Green foam sheet (optional)

  4. Christmas tree outline stencil (optional, you can also draw)

  5. Shining beads (optional)

  6. Christmas ornaments (gift box, on bauble)

  7. Hot glue

  8. Glue stick

Directions:

  1. If you don’t have a Christmas tree stencil, you can draw and cut out the outline yourself. Place it on the cardboard, trace it and cut out the same shape. Repeat the process to cut out the same outline from glitter paper and foam sheet (see pictures 2, 3 and 4).

  2. Paste the glitter tree cut-out on one side of the cardboard tree cut-out, picture 5.

  3. Turn the tree over and paste a bauble string in the centre using hot glue, picture 6.

  4. Once it’s dry, apply glue stick evenly on this side and paste the foam sheet tree cut-out over it, pictures 7 and 8.

  5. Cut out a five-inch-long and three-inch-wide cardboard piece, and make a slit in the centre to fit the tree trunk, picture 9.

  6. Cover the cardboard piece with any coloured sheet of your choice. I used a brown glitter sheet to give it an earthy look, picture 10.

  7. Insert the tree trunk into the slit and secure it with hot glue, picture 11.

  8. Your Christmas tree is ready! Now it’s time to decorate it. Just like with a big tree, unleash your creativity and use any materials available to you. You can also leave it simple, as it will still look charming, picture 12.

For decoration: I used shining beads, a beaded lace for the boundary, and some small craft gift boxes I already had, placing them at the base.

You can also add small toys, such as Santa Claus, a reindeer or even glue pearls and stars to enhance the detail and beauty of the little Christmas tree. These additions will make it even more festive and charming.
