BAHAWALPUR: The Cantonment police have booked an official of the Inter-Boards Committee of Chairmen (IBCC), Bahawalpur office, for allegedly harassing a girl student and forcing her to develop relations with him.
According to police sources, a girl student ‘M’, a resident of Kot Samabah, Rahim Yar Khan district, in her complaint alleged that a clerk ‘N’ had been contacting her on her mobile phone, and forcing her to develop relations with him.
She stated that on Dec 15, she had to visit the office of the clerk in the evening to collect her documents.
She alleged that the clerk started forcing her to accompany him to the upper storey of the office building and spend some time with him, if she wanted her to get her documents.
According to her, ‘N’ sexually harassed her when she refused to take his offer.
She said that she was rescued by some people who are witnesses to the episode.
On her complaint, the police registered an FIR (No 1202/24) under section 354 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) against the clerk, who has not so far been arrested.
Bahawalpur district police spokesperson told Dawn that the suspect has managed to get an interim bail before arrest from a local court till Monday (Dec 23).
Meanwhile, IBCC Bahawalpur office in charge Muteeb Ahmed says that an inquiry into the the student’s complaint would be conducted soon.
Two murdered
Two men were shot dead and six others were injured when two groups traded fire when a man’s goats entered the field of a rival at Shahpur Phal village in Kahror Pakka tehsil in Lodhran district.
According to the Lodhran police spokesperson and the Rescue 1122 media coordinator, the armed clash between the two groups left one Tariq dead and three others, identified as Khalid, Rizwan and Irfan, injured, from one group.
They said a rival group’s member, Dilshad, was killed and Baqir, Allah Wasaya and Allah Bachaya were seriously injured in the clash.
The rescuers shifted the bodies and the injured persons to Kahror Pakka THQ Hospital, while police’s forensic and crime units reached the scene to collect evidence.
Lodhran DPO Kamran Mumtaz ordered registration of cases and arrest of the culprits.
Kidnapped
Unidentified criminals have posted a video on social media of torture of a kidnapped man, demanding Rs10 million ransom for his release.
The video shows the victim, Wajid Ali, being kept in chains and subjected to torture by his kidnappers.
The victim is a resident of Ali Town, Multan, in the limits of Seatle Mari police.
PFA Raid
A raiding party of the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) seized 170 kilogram beef that was unfit for human consumption and arrested the shop owner in Al-Murtaza Town, Ahmedpur East.
The beef shop owner, Allah Baksh, was handed over to Ahmedpur East city police.
