RAWALPINDI: The City Traffic Police Murree has deployed 200 personnel and set up a control room to facilitatetourists during the snowfall season.
A spokesman in a press release said Chief Traffic Officer Murree Mughees Ahmed Hashmi had chalked out a comprehensive and coordinated traffic plan for the snowfall season.
“Keeping in mind the importance of Murree, the City Traffic Police has issued a comprehensive and coordinated traffic plan for the snowfall season.”
He said additional personnel have been deployed in light of the directions issued by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
He said snow bikes, cranes and other vehicles have also been arranged for the hill station. Besides, more than 200 traffic wardens have been deployed in Murree to facilitate tourists.
The CTO said guidance will be provided to tourists through banners and pamphlets at all the entrances to Murree city.
The CTO said that traffic from Rawalpindi, Islamabad can use the expressway and GT Road to visit Murree. View Forth Road, Bank Road, Hall Road, Kaldna Road and Imtiaz Shaheed Road have been made one-way in the district.
Mall Road will remain closed for all types of traffic. For better traffic flow, five sectors have been created in the area.
The CTO said that there will be a complete ban on parking in front of Habib Bank, GPO Chowk or its surroundings, from GPO Chowk to Cecil Hotel and Kaldna Road, Bank Road GPO to Girls Degree College.
“The biggest problem in Circle Murree is parking, so tourists are requested to park their vehicles only in the designated places,” he said.
The CTO has set up a control room at Sunny Bank to provide all possible facilities to tourists. The contact number of the control room is: 0519269200.
The CTO requested tourists coming to Murree to visit the police social media page @ctpmurree for weather updates and traffic advisories before starting their journey and try to bring four-wheel drive vehicles.
Use chains on the tyres of vehicles due to slippery roads during snowfall. Keep dry fruits and warm clothes in the vehicles. Keep the fuel tank of the vehicle full. During snowfall, do not spend the night inside a vehicle under any circumstances. He said visitors should strictly follow the instructions of the traffic wardens and signboards and traffic rules.
