HARIPUR: A two-day jewellery conference is going to be held here from December 23 (Monday) to promote and highlight the evolution of Pakistani gems and jewellery.
The School of Design Art and Architecture Technologies (SDAAT) of Pak-Austria Fachhochschule Institute of Science and Technology is organising the event, Prof Zafar Iqbal, Dean SDAAT, said here on Friday.
Sharing the schedule and timing of the conference, he told reporters that at the event named as Partash Jewellery Conference, the speakers, including educationists, field experts and entrepreneurs, would share their knowledge and expertise through talks and poster sessions.
He said that the speakers would highlight the evolution of jewellery, interconnection of art and science, precious and semi-precious and imitation jewellery.
Some keynote foreign experts would also be sharing their input on the topic, he added.
Prof Iqbal said a session on transformative power of jewellery as a source of mental, emotional and economic rehabilitation of jail inmates was also part of the conference.
He said provincial minister for local governments Arshad Ayub Khan would be the chief guest of the opening session.
Prof Iqbal said different companies and organisations would also put on display different jewellery items and gems during the two-day conference.
