ISLAMABAD: Former managing director of the Mineral Development Project and ex-member of the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) Dr Muhammad Shabbir passed away here on Saturday after a prolonged illness.

Late Dr Shabbir had also served as Director General Nuclear Fuse and Material at the PAEC and was currently serving as scientific adviser to the Punjab government.

According to family sources, he was a kidney patient and had been hospitalised for the last three days.

He was a recipient of Hilal-e-Imtiaz and Sitara-e-Imtiaz conferred upon him in recognition of his services in nuclear engineering and chemistry.

His Namaz-e-Janaza will be held today (Sunday) after Zuhr Prayers at 2pm at H-11 Graveyard, Islamabad.
