ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco) has directed Sub Divisional Officers (SDOs), Executive Engineers (XENs) and Superintending Engineers (SEs) to regularly check all tariff meters.
On maintaining the minimum line losses and maximum recovery Iesco has the best position among the power distribution companies of Pakistan.
Talking toDawn, Iesco spokesperson Raja Asim said in all operation circles --Islamabad, Rawalpindi city, Rawalpindi cantt, Attock, Jhelum and Chakwal --a comprehensive campaign against power pilferers was started in September 2023 in light of the government and the ministry of energy power division directives.
“During the crackdown, Iesco is getting full support from law enforcement agencies. Iesco operation, meter and testing, teams are giving their best to eliminate power theft from the region,” he said.
According to the Iescochief Executive Officer Mohammad Naeem Jan, during ongoing anti-power theft activities team apprehended 609 power pilferers from Islamabad circle, 939 from Attock circle, 540 from Rawalpindi circle, 367 from Jhelum circle, 596 from Chakwal circle and 1018 from Rawalpindi cantt circles. “Power pilferers are charged a fine of Rs349.09 million, 3,173 FIRs were registered against power thieves and police also arrested 2,278 power pilferers,” he said.
