LARKANA: A woman with her ears slit was found bludgeoned to death near Pir Shaikhan Saen graveyard on the outskirts of Gaji Khuhawar town, police said on Saturday.

The barbaric act sent a wave of shock and anger among the bereaved family and residents of Nasirabad town, in Qambar-Shahdadkot district, where the victim belonged to.

The body of the woman, later identified as Sakina, 60-65, wife of Allah Dino Odho, was found dumped on a pile of straws near the graveyard.

According to the police, the killer(s) might have meted out this treatment to the woman for the gold earring she was wearing. Her son, Zamir Odhano, reluctantly agreed with the police, and demanded arrest of the killers. He told the media that some hard and blunt object was used to kill her as such an injury mark was visible on her head.

The police started an investigation into the incident as Larkana DIG Nasir Aftab Pathan took serious notice of the act of barbarism. He directed the investigators to ascertain actual motive behind the murder and track down the culprit(s).

It was yet to be established that whether the victim’s ears were slit before or after her murder.

The Gaji Khuhawar police have detained one suspect, Gulsher Odhano — a close relative of the deceased woman — for interrogation, according the spokesman for the DIG.
