KARACHI: Renowned writer and artist Rumana Husain has said that a bright and curious mind is a true blessing and for such a mind to flourish, progressive thinking and open-mindedness are essential.
“It is important to examine every piece of information from multiple perspectives and explore it through diverse methods of study. This approach fosters scholarly growth, enabling a deep understanding of any subject,” she said while speaking as the chief guest at a Shaheed Hakim Mohammed Said Memorial Scholarship programme.
The event was presided over by Sadia Rashid, president of Hamdard Foundation Pakistan, at The Arena, Bahria Town Tower.
Under the scholarship programme, more than 150 bright students at the matriculation and intermediate levels from across the country received financial scholarships of Rs50,000 and Rs75,000, respectively.
Rumana Husain said “There has always been a lack of inspiring children’s literature in Urdu. Recognising this need, Shaheed Hakim Mohammed Said initiated the publication of the monthly Hamdard Naunehal. This magazine has played a pivotal role in the mental and intellectual growth of many generations and holds historical significance. Make it a part of your regular studies.”
She advised the scholarship recipients to cultivate open-mindedness in all matters and to respect differing opinions.
Sadia Rashid said: “Shaheed Hakim Mohammed Said envisioned a Pakistan where no child would be seen begging. He dreamt of a nation where every child would head to school each morning with smiles and laughter.”
