A REMARKABLE change of tone has been noticed within the main opposition political party after a former Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) chief was served with a charge sheet for misusing his authority and being involved in political activities. The threatening tone earlier used by party leaders in public meetings and parliament made things worse for the party and the country.
The onslaught on Islamabad on Nov 26, led by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) chief minister and the wife of the
incarcerated opposition leader, has apparently doomed the chances of any success through a show of force.
The party’s earlier refusal to talk with the government has suddenly changed. Perhaps it has felt the winds of change. If so, it is, indeed, good for the peace and prosperity of the country. The party should take a step further, and direct its media cell as well as supporters to refrain from spreading negativity across the various social media platforms.
