SUKKUR: A youth, Sanaullah Gulwani Jakhrani, while sitting at a teashop in Jacobabad, was shot dead on Sunday in retaliation for an earlier incident in which police had killed a suspected criminal.

The victim’s uncle, Nisar Jakhrani, told the media and Mauladad police that unknown members of the Jakhrani community had a few months back killed a policeman, Shahnawaz Khakhrani. The police later gunned down the suspected killer, Naukar Jakhrani, in an encounter. He said his rivals within the community suspected that his nephew, Sanaullah, had given information about Naukar’s whereabouts to the police and this had led to the encounter.
