TOBA TEK SINGH: Four children of a farmer family from Chak 554-GB, Baqarshah Wali, Mamukanjan, Faisalabad, have died, one each day over four consecutive days at Sahiwal Teaching Hospital.
Reports said that Ameer Ali’s three-and-a-half-year-old son, Ali Imran, died four days ago. The next day, his granddaughter Zohra Fatima, aged two, also passed away, followed by his other granddaughter Noor Fatima, aged five, on the third day.
Late Sunday night, his son Ali Muhammad also expired.
This series of deaths caused panic in the village.
Sources say that Tandlianwala Assistant Commissioner Azka Sehar directed police to take custody of the body of the last deceased child, Ali Muhammad, for autopsy.
Ameer Ali informed the police that on Dec 19, 10 family members consumed tea and sugarcane plants, which caused ulcers in their mouths and deteriorated their condition.
The affected people were initially treated at Ayesha Memorial Hospital in Bangla Chowk, Mamukanjan, and were later referred to Sahiwal DHQ Hospital, where four of them died.
ATC: Faisalabad Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Javed Iqbal Sheikh adjourned the hearing of the May 9 riots case until Jan 8, 2025.
The case was registered against PTI leaders and activists for allegedly burning a police van outside the State Bank of Pakistan in the Civil Lines police station area following the arrest of PTI founder Imran Khan.
Former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry and several PTI leaders and activists appeared in court. PTI’s legal team head, Malik Khalid Shafiq, told reporters that the court had accepted his application to exempt opposition leaders Umar Ayub Khan, Shibli Faraz, Kanwal Shouzeb, Rai Hassan Nawaz, Rai Murtaza Iqbal and others from appearance.
CASE: A woman was booked in Faisalabad for allegedly poisoning two buffaloes and two cows, valued at over Rs1.2 million, in Tandlianwala locality of Ali Kay Thatha.
The complainant, Zafar Iqbal, claimed in his FIR that he had quarreled with his wife, Ayesha Bibi, after she repeatedly demanded that he sell the animals and give her the money. In anger, she allegedly mixed poison into their fodder, resulting in their deaths.
Police are investigating the incident.
BURNT ALIVE: A woman was allegedly burnt alive and a man sustained burn injuries after a fire broke out in Farhan Raza Shah’s house near Meelad Chowk, Jhang, late on Sunday.
Reports said that the fire was caused by a heater.
Rescue 1122 firefighters extinguished the flames. The deceased was identified as Uzma Bibi, wife of Farhan Raza Shah (35).
The injured, identified as Aun Raza Shah, Farhan’s brother, suffered burns on 15 per cent of his body and received first aid from rescuers.
