MUZAFFARGARH: A fake healer allegedly burnt the feet and fingers of a woman during the ‘rituals’ to free her from influence in Kot Sultan, district Layyah.

District Police Officer Muhammad Ali Waseem directed the arrest of the suspect.

The Kot Sultan police registered a case against suspect Ijaz Ahmad and formed a team to arrest him.

Complainant Muhammad Younis said that his wife Ruqia Bibi had been ill for the last month. They learned about ‘peer Ijaz’, known for treating illness caused by ‘influence’.

He contacted peer Ijaz, who came to their house and asked the family to leave the room for an hour, saying that Ruqia was under influence.

After an hour, the peer came out of the room and asked the family to wait for half an hour before going to the patient. When Younis entered the room, he found his wife unconscious, with her feet, fingers and knees burned. She was shifted to a hospital in Kot Sultan.
