ABBOTTABAD: Thandiyani, Nathiagali, Changlagali and other parts of Galiyat received snowfall while Abbottabad city and surrounding areas received rain on Monday.

According to the local Met office, six inches to one foot of snowfall was recorded in different parts of Galiyat. As a result of snowfall, temperatures dipped below the freezing point in Abbottabad, and people wore woollies. However, the people welcomed the long-awaited rain and snowfall.

Medics said that the rain would help reduce increasing cough and flue ailments caused by prolonged dry spell.

Rescue 1122 personnel were deputed at various locations to help stranded tourists.

Galiyat Development Authority’s staff was also busing removing snow from roads.

The traffic police have advised tourists not to travel after sunset, and to also contact them before planning to visit the area.
