LAHORE: Employees of the Punjab Institute of Cardiology have protested against teams of the health department for ‘harassing’ them in the name of monitoring institute’s affairs.

The employees including clerks, receptionists and paramedics gathered at the hospital and raised slogans against the monitoring teams.

They claimed that the members of health department teams were harassing them during inspection of PIC’s different sections.

The protesters claimed that monitoring teams were preparing reports based on hearsay against employees, leading to termination of many of them recently.

The PIC employees alleged that some members of the monitoring teams were deliberately targeting the lower staff of the institute to cover up the negligence of the senior admin officials.

They warned to expand the scope of the agitation in days to come if the health authorities continued to victimize the PIC workers/employees.
