HYDERABAD: Pakis-tan Peoples Party’s (PPP) Sindh chapter president, Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, has said that Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari dominates political landscape of the country as a leader with great acumen and sanguinity.

Khuhro said at a seminar titled “Mai Benazir hun” (I am Benazir) organised by PPP Sindh information secretary Aajiz Dhamra at Sindh Museum on Wednesday that the party’s history glittered with sacrifices and that was why Supreme Court had to declare this day that Z.A. Bhutto was innocent.

He said that PPP had always advised Benazir Bhutto to take care of herself before making a decision to return but she told the party leadership that she wanted to be among her people whose she loved.

He said that it was her greatness that even her bitter critics paid tribute to her. Benazir Bhutto had emulated her father. Jam Saqi and Asif Zardari remained incarcerated for 12 years, and Benazir Bhutto never lost spirit after her defeat, he said.

He said that Benazir never accepted any concessions from the dictator when she was in jail. Nowadays, a protest was being staged for someone who was in jail while Z.A. Bhutto never touched telephone. When Benazir Bhutto was assassinated her spouse Asif Zardari said ‘Pakistan khappay’, he said.

He recalled that Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari had said that democracy was the best revenge whereas there were people who attacked Radio Pakistan and parliament when suffered political defeats.

He asserted that Z.A. Bhutto took back 5,000 square miles land from India and made Pakistan a nuclear power. Zardari had handed over presidential powers of dissolution of assemblies to parliament and ensured continuity of democratic process in the country, he said.

Khuhro said that PPP was a patriotic party with firm belief in provincial autonomy. If all provinces were empowered Pakistan would become strong, he said, and thanked Benazir for staging a sit-in against Kalabagh Dam to rid the country of this ghost.

He said that Bilawal dominated political landscape. When this country did not have two thirds majority Bilawal got a bill passed with two thirds, he said, adding PPP had never left people in the lurch.

Former senator, Maula Bux Chandio, said that whenever he thought of Benazir Bhutto his eye filled with tears. People never thought she would leave this world so suddenly, he said.

He said that he loved Bhutto family and a person ‘loves’ someone only once in his or her life. His life and death were linked with PPP’s fate, he said.

Aajiz Dhamra said that the seminar was in fact a reflection of reaffirmation of their commitment with the party. Other parties needed to learn discipline from PPP, he said.

Tariq Shah, PPP district president Hyderabad; Sen-ator Dost Ali Jessar, Zahid Bhurgari, Fayyaz Shah and others also spoke at the seminar.
