LAHORE: Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan says there is no concept of politics without a dialogue.

“Our politics is based on the importance of dialogue and conversation in which talks between rival parties are a must,” he said, while discussing the performance of the provincial assembly with the media here on Wednesday.

“Politics should be based on mutual communication. Without dialogue, the concept of politics is unimaginable,” he said, calling for peaceful solutions to conflicts through constructive discussions.

The speaker termed the amendments to the Rules of Procedure of the house as a significant milestone, emphasizing that these amendments were unanimously passed.

“These changes are a crucial step toward strengthening the assembly and empowering the people.” He said these reforms promote the principles of parliamentary strength and public representation.

Reflecting on eight months of legislation, Speaker Khan said that the house passed 12 important laws during this period.

“These laws will have profound impacts on society, the legal framework, and public welfare,” he said.

“Even if my personal opinion differs, I prioritised the majority’s opinion to legislate for the welfare of the people,” he explained.

Referring to the issues being faced by residents of Punjab’s border areas, he announced forming a special caucus to ensure the restoration of their fundamental rights.
