TAXILA: Leader of Opposition in National Assembly Omar Ayub castigated the authorities for subjecting the PTI workers and supporters to torture, detention and even killing during protests.

He expressed these views while offering condolences to the family of PTI activist Malik Idris at Dhurnal village in district Attock on Thursday.

Malik Idris was injured by a bullet during a protest on Nov 26 at party protest at D-Chowk Islamabad and later shifted to Peshawar for medical treatment where he succumbed to his injuries.

He was of the view that the government was answerable for killing innocent protesters during protests as the party stands with its martyrs and their families. He said PTI as a party stood with the slain activists until and unless his family gets justice.

“The workers are promised, from Zalle Shah to Malik Idris, the government is accountable for the blood of every worker,” vowed Mr Ayub adding that rulers are unaware of the fact that how many families ruined by their killings.

He was of the view that PTI founder Imran Khan is deeply saddened by the martyrdom of his workers. He demanded the release of the PTI’s detained workers and called for transparency in the legal process, including the release of CCTV footages of the events of May 9.

He also visited the grave of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s martyred worker, Malik Idris, at Dhurnal in district where he offered Fatiha and placed flowers on the grave.

Later, he visited the home of the late Idris’s house and expressed his condolences to his family.

Speaking to his family, he said that the martyrdom of a slain PTI worker would bear fruit in the form of bringing real democracy to the country.
