RAWALPINDI: The Agriculture Department has intimated to the Rawalpindi deputy commissioner that four cases of tractors allotment have been cancelled as three framers have refused to get tractors while one has submitted his late father’s Computerized National Identity Card.

A total 138 tractors had to to be allotted to winners of balloting in Rawalpindi district. Allotment letters of 136 tractors have been issued while 33 have received tractors. Total 101 are from Al-Ghazi, 24 from Millat and one from Pak Tractor. So far, 134 have been booked.

Out of 138 tractors, four cases had been cancelled as three people have refused to receive the tractors while the 4thperson used the identity card of his late father.

These tractors will be given to the next four people on the list. A senior official of the district administration told Dawn that total 7,569 applications were received from Rawalpindi. Out of which 6,818 submitted online and 751 manually.

He said that after balloting, 138 candidates to get the tractor under the scheme. He said that the agriculture department had sent the cases to the deputy commissioner for the cancellation of four people and the committee would decide their fate.

Under Punjab Chief Minister’s Green Tractor Scheme, the provincial government gives farmers a subsidy of Rs10,000 per tractor. Through balloting, the scheme will provide 9,500 tractors to farmers at a subsidised prices across the province.

Farmers can choose tractors with 50 to 85 horsepower, all manufactured in the country.
