LAHORE: Mohammad Ahmad Gujjar of Punjab and Army’s Ammarah Ishtiaq emerged U-19 champions in the National Junior Badminton Championships here at the Nishtar Sports Complex on Friday.

Ahmad comfortably defeated Mohammad Hashir of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 21-9, 21-5 to win the crown while Ammarah toppled Punjab’s Kanzul Eman in their decider 21-7, 21-17.

Hammadullah of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Army’s Sarwat Fatima won the U-17 boys’ and girls’ titles, respectively.

Abdul Haseeb of KP claimed the U-15 boys’ singles title defeating province-mate Mohammad Ayan in the final.

Punjab’s duo of Tayyaba Shafiq and Kanzul Eman won the women’s U-19 doubles title and Muhammad Zaid and Najam Us Saqib of KP clinched the men’s doubles U-19 title.

U-17 boys’ singles: Hamadullah (KP) bt Mohammad Suleman (Punjab) 21-19, 21-10

U-17 girls’ singles: Sarwat Fatima (Army) bt Romesha Faisal (Punjab) 21-14, 21-19

U-19 men’s singles: Mohammad Ahmad Gujjar (Punjab) bt Mohammad Hashir (KP) 21-9, 21-5

U-19 women’s singles: Ammarah Ishtiaq (Army) bt Kanzul Eman (Punjab) 21-7, 21-17

U-19 men’s doubles: Mohammad Zaid/Najam-Us-Saqib (KP) bt Fahad Ahmed/ Hamadullah (KP) 22-20, 21-13

U-19 women’s doubles: Tayyaba Shafiq/Kanzul Eman (Punjab) bt Mariyam Hanif/Mariyam Hamza (Sindh) 23-21, 21-12.
