LAHORE: Defending champions Wapda and Army stormed into the semi-finals of the National Women’s Basketball Championship here at the Wapda Sports Complex on Friday.

Wapda, who remained unbeaten in the pool round, continued their winning streak by thrashing Faisalabad 50-13.

The defending champions were in total control, leading by 19 points at halftime and eventually winning by a 37-point margin.

Hijab Fatima was the star performer for Wapda, scoring 22 points, while Sidra Hakeem chipped in with 12 points. Feroza Aslam was the lone bright spot for Faisalabad, scoring nine points.

In another match, Army delivered an impressive performance, routing Islamabad 53-21. Aisha Dilshad and Amna Mohsin were the top scorers for Army, with 25 and 10 points, respectively.

The event is part of a series of initiatives by the Pakistan Basketball Federation to revive the sport in the country.
