SUKKUR: Naparkot police registered an FIR on behalf of state against 26 suspects, among them highly influential feudal lord Sardar Tegho Khan Teghani, late on Friday evening in the wake of targeted murder of two police constables in the Garhi Tegho area earlier in the day.

PRO to the Shikarpur SSP confirmed to Dawn registration of the FIR and nomination of Sardar Tegho Khan, saying that 26 criminals, including Tegho Khan, had been booked. Police sources said that Tegho Khan was accused of inciting gangsters to kill the police officials.

Wounded policeman dies

A police constable, Abdul Razzaq Lanjwani, who had sustained gunshot wounds in an encounter with gangsters 21 days ago, succumbed to his wounds in Jacobabad on Saturday.

The funeral prayers were held in his native village Murad Ali Lanjwani before he was laid to rest with full police honours.

Jacobabad SSP retired Capt Saddam Hussain Khaskhali, along with the DSPs of City, Thall, Saddar and Garhi Hasan, besides other police officers and the deceased constable’s family and relatives, attended the funeral.

Lanjwani, along with one of his colleagues, constable Shehzad Lashari, was wounded in the encounter in the Thall area of Jacobabad on December 7. They had been under treatment at the Sukkur Civil Hospital since then.
