SWABI: Peshawar Electric Supply Company issued a new schedule of loadshedding after talks with the Swabi Action Committee (SAC) leaders here on Saturday.

As per the schedule issued by Pesco superintendent engineer operations, Swabi, Khotha village feeder will have six hours loadshedding, Roshanpura and Kunda seven hours each, Thandkoi and Gandaf eight hours each and the remaining 13 feeders 10 hours each.

The Pesco has promised to reduce outage duration by two hours on each feeder.

When contacted, SAC spokesman Salim Khan Advocate told Dawn that the reduction in loadshedding hours was promised by Pesco authorities when the committee had staged a sit-in outside the deputy commissioner’s office a few days ago. He said the sit-in concluded when authorities promised to bring down loadshedding hours.

He said that the district police officer had also promised to eradicate the menace of drug trafficking in the district within 15 days.

He said that the SAC would also take up other issues with the authorities. He said the SAC’s objective was to ensure drug and power outage-free Swabi.

COILS STOLEN FROM TRANSFORMER: Unidentified thieves took away coils and oil from an electricity transformer in Shahmansoor Town on Friday night, police and township officials said on Saturday.

The incident took place in Sector-C, which is situated adjacent to the district police lines.

The residents said that at first they thought that electric supply had been stopped due to loadshedding, but in the morning they came to know that thieves had dismantled the transformer and took away oil and coils from it.

They questioned where the watchman was when the theft took place.

The residents alleged that it was not possible to disconnect the transformer from the live transmission line and then dismantle it without the support of some technical people.

Meanwhile, a Pesco official got registered an FIR against unidentified thieves in the Zaida police station.
