DERA ISMAIL KHAN: An exchange of gunfire erupted between two groups in Giloti area over a dispute concerning the smuggling of non-customs-paid goods here on Saturday.

The police promptly arrived at the scene and seized a significant quantity of non-custom paid cloth.

According to a report filed by SHO Giloti police station Bashir Ahmed Khan under sections 324, 427, 148, and 149 of Pakistan Penal Code, he was on a routine patrol when he heard gunfire from the direction of Giloti area. “Upon reaching there, he found two groups engaged in an armed conflict,” the report said.

According to it, the first group, consisting of Saifullah, Shaukatullah and 13 others, was firing at the second group, which included Mohammad Khan, Zahidullah, and seven others. “However, upon seeing the police, both groups fled the scene,” the report added.

The SHO said in the report that the gunfire resulted in damage to a truck’s tyres, which was loaded with smuggled cloth belonging to the first group.
