RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi police in an action against suspected drug peddlers, bootleggers, illegal weapon holders and other lawbreakers here on Saturday arrested 10 suspects besides recovering hashish, liquor, weapons and other items from their possession, said a police spokesman.

He said that Waris Khan police held two persons with 580 grams hashish five liters liquor. Airport police rounded up two persons with liquor .

Civil Lines police in their operation arrested two persons with weapons.

Sadiqabad police nabbed a proclaimed offender wanted in a murder case. Three coaccused in the case had already been arrested, he added.

The spokesman further said that Naseerabad police conducted a raid and arrested Amir Haider who was involved in making a bogus call on police helpline 15 for giving fake information about a robbery.

Pirwadhai police managed to arrest an man wanted in a case of harassing and threatening a woman and her daughter.

The spokesman said that Gujar Khan police arrested a kite seller and recovered 65 kites and a kite flying string roll from his possession.

Cases have been registered against all the accused while further investigations are underway.

Meanwhile, Rawalpindi district police here on Saturday carried out search operations in the jurisdiction of R.A.Bazar, Westridge, Morgah, Race Course, Wah Cantt, Gujar Khan, Mandra, Kalar Syedan, Chakri, Jatli, and Kahuta police stations.

According to a police spokesman, the search operations were conducted in order to maintain law and order and flush out suspects following the directions of City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Hamdani. He said senior police officers and police personnel including women police took part in the search operations.

Police checked 246 houses, 144 shops, hotels, tenants and nearly 450 individuals during the search operations.

The spokesman said that police were fully prepared to shield the lives and property of the public and combing and search operations were being done to flush out the suspects and hardcore criminals.
