NAROWAL: The Sialkot police have yet to recover a two-year-old child who was kidnapped a month ago.

Ghulam Farid, of Sherpur village, reported to the police that his two-year-old son, Wali Muhammad, went missing on Nov 23. He said the child had gone outside to play but never returned. Despite a thorough search in the village and announcements made in local mosques, Wali could not be located.

On Farid’s complaint, an FIR was registered at the Kotli Loharan police station. Farid told Dawn that his son had been abducted by unidentified people.

He accused the police of conducting a lacklustre investigation, stating, “More than a month has passed since my son’s abduction, and the police are searching in a traditional manner. I am a poor labourer, and they are not making sincere efforts to recover my child.”

He added that his wife is in a state of shock due to their son’s disappearance.

District Police Officer Rana Umar Farooq said efforts are still underway to find the child and the SP investigation is leading the team assigned to trace this case.

The family has appealed to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr Usman Anwar for the immediate recovery of their child.
