SARGODHA: As many as 10 people, including five women of a family going for a mehndi function, were injured when their bus overturned while trying to avoid a tractor-trolley loaded with flour bags.
The bus overturned at a dangerous bend on College Sahiwal Road.
The injured, including Hira Hassan, Nazarat, Mohabbat Ali, Rabnawaz, Zarina Bibi, Samia Bibi, Rukhsana Bibi, Samina Bibi, Muhammad Yar and Muhammad Afaq, were shifted to a hospital.
DIES BY SUICIDE: A young man from Chak 76-SB, Samuranwali, Sargodha, died by suicide after his wife left him over a domestic disagreement.
Bilal Ahmed consumed poisonous pills hidden in wheat and was referred to Sargodha from Bhagtanwala Hospital in a critical condition but could not be revived.
The body was handed over to his heirs after necessary formalities.
The police are investigating.
ENCOUNTER: A dacoit gang leader was killed in an encounter with Sahiwal police at Langarwala Pattan on the river Jhelum.
The dacoits were stopping and looting a car when a police team led by SHO Fahad Bilal arrived at the scene. On being challenged, the gunmen opened fire and in a retaliatory fire, gang leader Asad was killed.
FOG: Heavy fog in Sargodha and its surroundings has increased the intensity of cold and reduced visibility to zero.
People faced severe difficulties, and traffic police advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel and use fog lights while driving.
The fog affected traffic flow across the area, while an increase in the use of warm clothes and purchases from second-hand markets (linda) was noted.
MAN KILLS MOTHER: On the outskirts of Sargodha, Faisal shot at and killed his mother over a dispute in Chaksaida, Miani Town.
Her body was first shifted to the Malikwal THQ Hospital for legal formalities and later handed over to the heirs.
The police arrested Faisal near Chautdhiran and recovered the murder weapon, a 30-bore pistol, while investigations are underway.
TAX COLLECTION: The Sargodha Municipal Corporation has started its recovery campaign by issuing Rs600 bills for sewer tax for two months to citizens.
Areas, such as Maqam Hayat, Mohammadi Colony and Iqbal Colony, continue to suffer from overflowing sewers, dirt and filth. Residents criticised the corporation for failing in the Punjab government’s Clean Punjab Programme while beginning the recovery drive.
