LAHORE: The police killed two suspected robbers in an alleged encounter in Raiwind on Saturday.

Police said they were taking suspects Asad and Safiullah, who were on physical remand, for recovery to Jodheray village Raiwind Road near Suay Asil when their accomplices opened fire to free them.

The police team cordoned off the area and retaliated. Both suspects suffered bullet wounds while their accomplice taking benefit of the darkness fled the scene.

The injured suspects were taken to nearby hospital where they could not survive. The suspects were arrested in several robberies, attempt to murder, and murder cases. The suspects were involved in killing Mansoor Hussain and Sadiq while also injured Muhammad Jamil in three different cases.

Police shifted the bodies to morgue for autopsy.
