SHANGLA: The police on Monday claimed to have arrested three persons for killing their sister-in-law for honour in Shalmanu area of Alpuri tehsil a few days ago.

District police officer Imran Khan told reporters here that all three accused nominated by the slain woman’s sister had been arrested and would be produced before the court to obtain their physical remand.

He said that the woman had stated in the FIR lodged with the Alpuri police station on Dec 26 that her sister had come to their house and was present in the kitchen when Umar Ali, Ahmad Hussain and Noorul Hassan, residents of Daulat Kallay Basi area, entered the house and opened indiscriminate fire at her sister, killing her instantly.

DPO Imran said that he had asked the police to ensure justice to the slain woman’s family.

Meanwhile, a fire erupted in the government forest in MalakKhel area of Alpuri on Monday, destroying scores of pine and other trees.

Locals said that forest guards along with Rescue 1122 firefighters started efforts to put out the blaze.

Forest officials said that teams were making hectic efforts to put out the fire.

SNOWFALL: The upper parts of Shangla district received snowfall on Monday, turning the weather chilly.

Locals said that Kapar Banda, Shangla Top, Gamtal, Pir Khana, Ajmeer, Gandaw, Spen Ghar, Kandaw and mountains of Chakesar received snowfall.
