CHARSADDA: Qaumi Watan Party provincial chairman Sikandar Khan Sherpao has said that both federal and provincial governments are not paying any heed to situation in Kurram tribal district.

Addressing a meeting of party office-bearers and workers belonging to provincial assembly constituency PK-62 here on Monday, he said that there was shortage of medicines and food items in Kurram owing to closure of roads. He feared that the situation could turn into humanitarian crisis.

The QWP provincial chief said that every institution and individual should honour the supremacy of Constitution. He said that governments were sometimes imposed on the nation in the name of ‘peace’, sometimes in the name of ‘change’ and sometimes in the name of ‘religion’. He said that some hidden powers were making and breaking governments.

He said that provincial government was limited only to sit-ins and protests for release of PTI founder from jail. He said that provincial government failed to mitigate sufferings of people. He said that government was yet to start any major development project in the province.

Sikandar Sherpao said that province’s debt increased by 700 per cent during the successive governments of PTI. He said that people were not getting any relief.

He claimed that after coming into power, his party would steer out the province of the present economic crises and put it on the path of progress and prosperity. He said that rulers were not paying any attention to eradication of militancy and backwardness.

The QWP leader said that the economy would improve only when life of a common man improved and poor could easily get two times meal. “The poor will not benefit from economic indicators, which are going back and forth. People have come to know the reality of the slogan of change,” he added.

He said that mostly the courts decisions were made following the ‘doctrine of necessity’ which had caused a lot of damage to the country. The supremacy of the Constitution should be applied to every institution and individual, he said.

He urged QWP workers to become active and mobilise supporters so that the people of the province could be led on the path of development and prosperity.
