RAWALPINDI: Punjab Minister for Transport Bilal Akbar Khan on Monday visited the Margalla Railway Station to get a briefing from railway officials about the establishment of a track to Murree under the proposed Glass Tourist Train project.
He was informed that a track will be constructed from Margalla Railway Station to Bastal Mor Murree and from there to Galiyat and Patriata.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister said Nespak will complete the feasibility study for the tourist glass train by April 30. The government will provide an attractive environment to tourists to promote tourism.
Meanwhile, a meeting was held in Islamabad regarding the proposed development of Lahore as a smart city on the instructions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
The provincial minister for transport attended the meeting in which officials from Huawei Company gave a briefing on the Lahore Smart City Project.
The officials said in order to make Lahore a smart city, the company will improve various facilities in the city, including traffic, cleanliness, besides making the environment eco-friendly.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister said all the proposed measures were being reviewed, including improving the air quality and running electric buses.
Encroachments are being eliminated in the city which will help improve the traffic situation.
