Making a snowman is always fun, especially when you’re making one from snow. However, not all of us can have the enjoyment of making one from real snow. Worry not, my dear friends, you can still make a snowman at home and place it anywhere without worrying about it melting at any time of the year because your snowman will be built with Styrofoam.

Isn’t that still great? So, let’s create one and preserve it for your favourite corner!

Items you need:

  1. Two Styrofoam balls (large for the body, medium for the head)

  2. Old colourful sock

  3. One large plastic bottle

  4. Paper cutter or scissors

  5. Marker

  6. Hot glue

  7. Tiny Styrofoam balls to create some snow. If you don’t have Styrofoam, you can use cotton wool, or cuttings from tissue or paper.

  1. Mark the bottle at the top side, around the rounded part with a design, and mark at the bottom, two inches above the base, as shown in picture 2.

  2. With the help of an adult, cut out both parts from the bottle, picture 3.

  3. Check if the top part, when inserted into the base, is aligned. If not, trim it further or adjust it as needed, pictures 4 and 5.

  4. To make the snowman, paste the medium-sized ball on top of the larger one, picture 6.

  5. Cut the toe part from a sock and cover the head of the snowman with this little beanie, picture 7.

  6. Draw the snowman’s face using a marker, picture 8.

  7. Cut a small part from a toilet paper roll to create a solid base for your snowman to stand on the ‘snow’ (Styrofoam balls), pictures 9 and 10.

  8. Cut a straight, one-inch-wide and six-inch-long strip to be used as a muffler, and wrap it around the neckline of your snowman, picture 11.

  9. Fill the base with tiny Styrofoam balls, crumpled paper or cotton wool, picture 12.

  10. Secure the top of the bottle to the base with hot glue or Scotch tape, as in picture 13. Finally, tie a ribbon on top of the bottle.

Voila! Your cute Styrofoam snowman is ready!
