LAHORE: Eight women were injured when the lift of a private hospital collapsed in Iqbal Town area here on Thursday.

The women had reached the Al-Shafi hospital to inquire after the health of some patients.

A police official said the incident occurred when the elevator suddenly malfunctioned and collapsed inside the duct from probably the second floor of the hospital.

Resultantly, he said eight women got injured, one of them seriously.

The hospital staff alerted the police which reached the site and managed to shift the women to the government hospitals for treatment.

They were later identified as Yasmin, Sobia, Farrah, Shumaila, Naila, Sameera, Sadia and Goshi. Police are looking into the matter to find out negligence of the hospital.
