ISLAMABAD: As many as 20 nominees are being considered for four vacancies of the judges of Islamabad High Court (IHC).

The Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) is scheduled to meet on Jan 17 to deliberate upon the nominations sent by the members of the JCP.

Though the notification for the meeting mentioned names of 19 individuals, JCP Secretary issued a corrigendum to include the name of Adil Aziz Qazi in the list.

The corrigendum says that the nomination of Aziz was received in Junk Email in the late hours.

Earlier, the Chief Justice of the respective high courts sent the nominations to the JCP, however, following the 26th amendment in the constitution and the JCP rules, the members of the commission have also been authorised to propose names for the vacant positions.

The JCP members including Chief Justice IHC Justice Aamer Farooq and others proposed the names of advocate Raja Inam Ameen Minhas, Kashif Ali Malik, Adnan Basharat, Syed Qamar Hussain Sabzwari, Umer Aslam Khan, Mohammad Usman Ghani, Rashid Cheema, Ayyaz Shaukat, Adnan Haider, Nudrat Bayan Majeed, Sultan Mazhar Sher Khan, Danyal Ijaz, Babar Bilal, Mohammad Abdul Rafeh, Chaudhry Hafeezullah Yaqub.

The list also included District and Sessions Judges Raja Jawad Abbas Hassan, Sharukh Arjumand, Additional District and Sessions Judge Humayun Dilawar.

The Chairman Implementation Tribunal on Newspapers Employees (ITNE) Shahid Mehmoood Khokhar is also among the nominees.
